Learning outcome (u24): Understand the products that are produced within and across media industries
P2 (U24): Explain the use of converging technologies within an identified sector.
Convergence is media technologies coming together and performing similar tasks as well as hard wares capabilities to do more than before for example Phones to make phones calls, send texts, emails, take pictures, access to the internet, listen to music produce films, distribute. In a media example, it would be how something like google drive can be used all around the world with laptops or smartphones.


The use of new advertising is from lots of people using smart technology from phones to tablets and TVs. These are so used nowadays that now adverts are directed towards these people a lot more and they are a lot more assessable. The smartphones are used to way to optimise the information for the adverts the way the smartphones do this is from using the QR codes on adverts so the customers are able to scan them and be able to go directly to the link.
M1 (U24): Discuss how the industry has utilised developments in technologies
In today's, advertising industry technologies have been advanced a lot more so that production techniques are a lot easier to use. For example, using creative suite from Adobe this would include premier pro, after effects, photoshop and illustrator this has allowed lots of people from the production team to be able to be more efficient and have more options as what to do in the editing stage of any advert of a trailer. The creative suite can be used over different platforms of laptops and even tables, for example, it can be used on an Ipad or a desktop computer. This would make it a lot more viable for the whole production team to be able to work on the project while also being in different places it's also all saved on to the creative suite so that means it would be very unlikely for them to lose the work that is needed.
Another great way technology advances have helped the advertising industry is through marketing in different ways like social media. this would mean Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and youtube are very helpful to market to a wider audience making sure that they would get there attention. Another reason as to why they would use social media is because it is very cheap to use for marketing so they wouldn't need to spend so much on trying to get billboards to try and get an advert on tv. One way they would use social media would be to use hashtags for there posts. This would mean that they are able to get there adverts to a wider demographic making it a lot easier to advertise. This was used for lots of products for example MacDonalds using it for their big mac with bacon in it using the question 'Is it Still a big mac. This would be used as a hashtag and this would make by MacDonalds and then customers that want to talk about it online would use that hashtag increasing the number of people seeing it. The way the hashtag would work is if a somebody sees this hashtag on a post on a random social media (e.g facebook, twitter Instagram) they would be able to click this hashtag to then be taken to all the posts that contain this hashtag.
Smartphones are used a lot due to the advance of technology they have as they are able to market and distribute lots of different products. one way they would be able to do this would be through QR codes. A QR code used for customers that want more information about the product this would be because any smartphone devices are able to scan the QR code and then send them to a link that contains more information. Making it instant access to the website that they scanned for. This is an effective method of advertising because its very accessible for lots of people due to smartphones being used so much and it also leads to the audience going to the online advertisement not just print advertisement. One example of this was when they where realising Call of Duty WWII and they placed 4 different QR codes in 4 different countries making it a much more fun way of advertising so they customers are able to find them and connect them all together to get limited edition items with there game they ordered.
